I took a quick side trip to the Mt. Castor Marsh Conservation area today. It is located at the end of a small cul-de-sac off of South East Street in Amherst, Mass.

The first thing I see as I go around the sign is bog bridges! I love bog bridges.
After a short distance the trail leaves the marsh and climbs Mt. Castor. I think it took less than five minutes before I realized I had already crested the summit and was headed back down the other side.

It was a short walk but there were some nice spring plants growing along the way.

A bunch of violets.

Fringed Polygala

Sensitive or Bead Fern
